Any body can check the baby at night. Both parents gave birth to the baby together. So its a joint work and responsibility. Therefore anyone can do this. They both need to worry.

In my case it is usually me who goes to my kids when they're crying at night. I just tell my wife that I'll take care of it. I'm not sure why but I don't feel right when I choose to stay in bed and let my wife go to the kids when they have problems at night. That's why I'm always the one to go heh.

Both. The baby needs to have the security in that both mommy and daddy are there for him/her when they need them.

I always have, but that's because I'm a stay at home mom, and my husband works a regular job. Before the birth of our second son, I worked, so we both took turns getting up in the night to make it easier on both of us. It's all about what works for you. Before you have kids, set out a plan.. because that will prevent anyone from getting mad about who is getting up more or not.
