What plants do you grow at home and why?

People plant for a reason, some for their flowers, others for their medicinal properties. Please share some info with the community. Right now, I am cultivating a plant called locally as Marvarosa which is an effective mosquito repellant since we have recently had a dengue outbreak here. This plant is more effective than the widely known citronella, or rosemary, or catnip, or other mint scented plants since this plant does not need its leaves to be crushed and applied to the skin as other plants do.
