Bidets: usually we dont have Bidets in the states, just toilets..do you?

I have seen them in Europe, I dont know whether Bidets are old fashioned or still very popular, as a matter of fact I am not quite sure what they are used for (I can only guess). But many Americans are unfaimliar with them, I look at them in wonder myself. Are they all over the world? I am clueless.

I have never ever been to anywhere in the world where their was a bidet (dictionary definition, A fixture similar in design to a toilet that is straddled for bathing the genitals and the posterior parts.!) ... Personally I'd much rather just get into the shower and have a proper wash all over than crouch over one of those cold porcelain bidets .. they look really uncomfortable and messy to use ...
