Jesus is not God. And as a matter of fact, your question is really good. Since I am not a Christian, I cannot answer that. But my point of view is that Jesus is not God and if he was God, or even son of God, he could have escaped his crucifixion easily and if he is God, then he could have converted the Jews and made all of them accept him as Messiah. By the way, I believe that Jesus was the Messiah.
