Is Match.Com truly something that works?

After seeing and hearing others talk about it I really have to wonder WHO uses this site and is it truly worth it? Last I knew it was about $50 a month to join and everyone I've EVER heard that joined was told in that first month that they didn't have a current match but check back. End result they strung the person along for at least the 2nd month and I've NEVER actually met anyone that got a real date from it!

Hi,
I am not neuro-physiologically able to think in that kind of way(romantic stuff), but if i would be able to, i would advise others to meet people face to face. It is the only 100% sure path to a fighting chance at finding out what they are getting into. I tend to think those types of sites are there to profit from other people's lonely hearts, which is not nice of them at all.

I agree. I've never heard of anyone TRULY finding a match via these paid sites, especially Match.Com.

I never had any luck with Match.com. I had the same experience - I was strung along, never had a date, nothing ever came of it. I had better luck with Yahoo personals, honestly. I've given up on the whole online personals thing. It's just not worth it to me. If I really want to get a date, I'll go out and get one.

I've never tried an online dating service as I was married at 23 ...
but my best friend's mom convinced her to try it and her mom even paid for it for the first few months. My friend met a few people and they emailed back and forth, but I don't think she actually went on a date with anyone. She ditched it and has decided to just find Mr. Right on her own.

I've heard good things about some online dating sites - lavalife is supposed to be really good but I think it's only in Canada.
If word of mouth says that it's a bad site, I would advise against it. There are a ton of dating sites out there, you don't have to spend your money on one that isn't going to work for you.
