should you enter your cat(s) in a cat show?

Let's face it, there are quite a few kitties who would likely receive awards and recognition at a cat show. I had been considering entering my Waffles in one of those shows, but am interested in hearing from cat owners who have done it. What's really involved?

Hi there...the cat shows for non-pedigree cats are great! We entered our first non-pedigree cat show last year called The Average Joe Cat Show which is open to all cats and their human pets. They had many fun categories to compete in such as spottiest cat, biggest eyes, bluest eyes, greenest eyes, most toes, smartest cat, best tricks, coolest cat...so many that I cannot remember them all. All cats can win second place so a cat who is entered in the blackest cat but is white can take 2nd place. However, first is reserved for the volunteer judges choosings. My Bengal leopard cat (see avatar) took the most first place ribbons overall--loudest meow, spottiest cat and best tricks. I truly believed my other cat should've won the best tricks category, but the judges as well as the crowd was in awe of my Bengal because he is not a common house cat many see. Anyhow all of the proceeds of the contestant fees and public fees went all to the no-kill cat shelter rescue--all for a good cause! So...definitely enter Waffles!!! It's a fun experience and you get to see all the other amazing kitties there too!
