I am looking for ways to help me cope with the fact that I have COPD I do not smoke anymore I quit 4 years ago when they diagnoised me with it.I was wondering if there is any easy way to cope with it most my day is eat up by inhalers and breathing treatments,is there an easier way to cope or just suffer it out.I found that it could be caused by an ATT protein that the liver is supposed to produce and we check mine was fine so I am looking still to see what can if anything be done, until then I need to cope and I don't do well with that.Thank you.

They way ou cope depends on the underlying condition. Is it bronchitis? COPD is a family of disorders so each one has its own behaviour. YOu didn't say howlong you have lived where you are now, or if there were any animals in the house. Many times your lung problems are actually an allergic reactiont o something really sbutle that might have been missed. What types of inhalers are you using? are you taking oral medication as well? If you are using inhalers alot then you might check out prednisone as an alternative. Your doctors need to get more aggressive itf you are using inhalers alot. I always suggest people try buying menthol crystals and using them in the shower each morning. They can help open things up. Eucalyptus essential oil can be useful as well. There are little scent inhalers that you can store it in and get a little whiff when you feel the need. You can set up a diffuser in your home that will emit tiny water droplets with essential oil. They are like cold vaporizers. Lavender, eucalyptus, and even peppermint are really useful. Hope that helps a bit.

My brother has it .... he uses a couple of different types of medications and sometimes has additional ones or heavier doses when he gets a cold or the flu .... he has antibiotics on standby and at the first sign of anything he takes them even before he sees the doctor. Also has a CPAP machine ..... uses it when he goes to bed at night because he also has sleep aponea. He had to get a flu injection every year and also the pneumonia one every 5 years ..... he was diagnosed about 5 years ago now. The specialist sent him to do some special breathing courses so he learnt how to breath .... expand and extend his lung capacity I think he said it was for.
