What do you do when the electric goes out?

We like to light lots of candles, okay, mainly my wife likes to light them, and we bundle our son up with us, and watch the storm/snow/etc etc. And if it lasts too long we play games. Now, when i was younger and we lost electric, my family would always break out the cards. But my son is four, and 52 card pick up is not fun in the dark! So what do you do?

We send the kids to bed! hahahahahaha No, seriously...I light a lot of candles also and a fire in the fireplace. We will sit there and think of games to play and talk and joke. We will sometimes try to name a food going in alphabetical order. Then we will pick a color and do the same thing. it gets really tough! Thank goodness I know neopets so well...I have been saved many of times by naming a food item or something from there. Hey! It counts as food! Just in neopet world! ha ha

LOL i haven't told my wife yet about neopets. I might keep it a secret. I'm afraid she'll get sucked in and start using the words on scrabble. LOL but we enjoy our time. We don't really have a problem entertaining ourselves as we don't turn the tv on much even when we do have electricity. Although one or both of us might go through internet withdrawal if it stayed off for any length of time!

lol i know all about that 52 pick up in the dark....when our power goes out we pretty much do the same as you but since our last power outage(which was due to a tornado :( i believe the next one we have ill be spending that time calming my children down. that was really frightening for them as well as me and my hubby but we had to pull together and get thru it

that's a lot more scary than just a power outage though! i'm glad that you and your family came through that experience, and hopefully the next time you lose electricity it won't be that bad!
