Do you think the movie "Troy" should've included mythology?

In my opinion, yes. It was lacking a certain element all the way through, and that was the gods. In Homer's "Iliad", their bickering and activity in the war made it that much more interesting. On the other hand, I've noticed that whenever Hollywood tries to put Greek mythology on the big screen, they fail miserably. So, what's your thoughts on this matter?

So much of the plot of the "Iliad" was intertwined with Greek mythology and their polytheistic beliefs. When "Troy" came out, the director was quoted as saying that he took out the gods and the mythology because they were "silly." I think that was a very poor choice, because the Greek lifestyle and their epic tales were tied to their belief structure. I do still enjoy the movie "Troy," but I wish that they had left the mythology as it should have been presented.

yes.... when i was read the book of Troy, the war within Troyan vs Greek always included the Gods War. For example, at the first day, Ares, the God of War choose Hector to win the battle, but Athen choose Ajax.

Mythology is part of Iliad, but it's not what the movie wanted us to know about. The movie is centered on the Trojan war and a background of the face that launched a thousand ships :)
