Christians would usually immediately react to this question that the Bible says no one knows but only the Father (Matt. 24:36, Mark 13:32), but upon careful reading of those verses one would notice that it is the day and hour that is not known but no mention of the year which this discussion is referring to. Reading from the context of these two verses, the fig tree which typifies the nation of Israel was mentioned four verses before the above quoted verses. The fulfillment of this prophecy refers to the restoration of the nation of Israel in 1948 and their recovery of Jerusalem in 1967. The verses between also mentions that that generation shall by no means pass away until all these things happen. Some students of eschatology would say that a generation equals 80 years (Psa. 90:10) which would add up to 2028 or 2047. However, the generation here does not refer to a generation as defined according to an age or a person, like the generation mentioned in Matt. 1:17; it refers to a generation defined by the moral condition of the people, like the generation in Matt. 11:16; 12:39, 41-42, 45; and Prov. 30:11-14. (www.recoveryversion.org) Moreover, the apostle Peter says that we not only expect His coming but also can hasten His coming (2Pet. 3:12). Come, Lord Jesus!

You are very knowledgable of the subject. I certainly could not have shared all of this. My knowledge is that through out the bible there are a list of different things that will be fufilled before it happens and many believe it will be in our lifetime because so many of those things have happened. I just look at the way the world is today, the way God originally planned the world and can only believe it's not going to be long before God says, "Enough". I pray I am ready for it.

My belief is no one knows except God. I'm not sure the passage or exact wording but the bible says something like at any hour of any day, we need to be prepared. Mel is a great actor and makes some teriffic movies but he has no way of knowing this.
