In the past few days, newspapers have written long stories covering the strikes and protests that American citizens are organizing to protest sending more American troops to Iraq. Over hald a million American citizen, including celebrities such as Jane Fonds, got together to protest this act. What is your personal opinion on this issue? Do you approve of sending more troops to Iraq?

I do not think sending troops to Iraq to support George W Bushs political agenda will help, the terrorists are not innocent Iraqi citizens, isnt it Bin Laden and his minions there after.

Up to last year, I would have resoundingly said yes to sending more troops to Iraq. So much is at stake and we cannot afford to let any progress slip. Sure, the after war planning was horrendous, but if we pull out, Iran becomes the dominent power in the region. For years, their government advocated either the overthrow of our government or to dismantle any Western allied force.
This power vacuum along with AQ in the region, will grow, fester, and spread at an alarming rate. This treat would not only affect the US but many other countries as well...China included. With Iran supporting NK, and supplying technologies to countries that are fundamentally against the US, its a natural fit for AQ to partner with Iran. Then the next attack in the US will be catastrophic.
So, for the being, we are fundamentally tied to the well being of the region. But does that mean we need an increase in troops? I'm not so sure on that. All the damage was already done at the beginning of the war...open borders with Syria, open borders with Iran, then non containment of the Ba'athists, etc....The Iraqi people do need to step up and start controlling their own affairs. The longer we continue to be there, the more it will seem like an occupation, if its not already one. But at least then, the next step (if its an occupation) would be to rid the country of Iranian operatives and put that threat to bed....No country in the world will allow that to happen since too much is at stake.
The celebrities like Cindy She'ha'an, Rosie O'donell, Jane the traitor, and many of the hollywood types would much rather live in a Socialist State and have the US roll over. The traitor lost any and all respect when she went over to N.Vietnam. Her along with Sean Penn, She'ha'an, and others do not bring credibility to the argument that the war was a waste. And by saying that, you're saying the soldiers are a waste. Sorry, this is what many of the troops are saying.
What the news doesn't report, is that re-enlistments are steady, volunteers are plentiful, and moral is generally high. Oh yeah, the news tries to highlight AWOLs are up, and there is dissension in the ranks, but its not the rank and file. These are small sound bites taken completely out of context. These men and women are all volunteers. If the war was truly a waste, there would be a mass exodus of troops not reenlisting. Since this hasn't happened, I tend to agree with those who were there over those who have never defended the freedoms these individuals have so vehemently attacked.
There's plenty of blame to go around concerning the predicament we are in now from Reagan/Carter all the way through to the present concerning the current war in Iraq. Sadamm was right, we don't have a stomach for wars, and in the last 35 years...we don't have the patience for long wars or any war that isn't wrapped up in a nice bow.

Behind every American soldier that goes to Iraq (man or woman) lives a family. The soldiers are not simply automatons, or mindless robots to do the bidding of some political entity. They are living breathing people with hopes and dreams of their own. And, they want to come home alive. Many won't.
Do I support the war in Iraq? No!
Do I support the soldiers in Iraq? Yes! I can be a soldier supporter and still disagree with the US being in Iraq.
Look, haven't we done enough over there already. It's been three years. My kid was just being born when we invaded.
Then they ousted Saddam, and we all that would be it.
Nope!
Then he was executed and Iraq got a new government, and we thought surely they'd bring the soldiers home.
What are we waiting for? Iraq has it's own sustainable governement. And the Iraqi people are begging us to leave, so they can just finally get on with their lives.
But, we're still sending more troops over there to Iraq.
Why? To curb terrorism. Hello people, terrorism is everywhere in the world. Ask the Israeli's.
They have terrorist attacks all the time. So, why haven't we sent support troops to help out Israel. Is it just none of our business?
So, no, I don't think we should send more US troops to Iraq. Haven't enough Americans shed their blood in that place already?
Can't we just bring them all home, yet?
