I need Sudoku tricks and help

I've been trying to solve Sudoku puzzles on the newspaper daily and although I start off well I finish only 50% of the time.
I know there are tricks and some shortcuts to try.
Can any of you lemme know some ways to get the numbers in better.
Or maybe a link to some website could help too!!
