I am 23 years old and I am a Medical Assistant as of now. My dream was always to become a RN which is a register nurse. What happen was that I was 17 and got pregnant with twins which are 6 years old now. I have been considering going back to school for my degree in nursing but am afraid of being a failure. Like I said in the begining that I am arleady in the medical field but not where I want to be, but I am scared to go back to shcool for some reason. Nobody in my family has every been successful in life and we always had live a hard life and I want to break that cycle. Please help me, I need everyones opinion. my passion has been in nursing since 9th grade and I love school, then why am I holding back on going?

Just get out there and do it! You're only 23 and have plenty of time to get your schooling done. It sounds to me that you will not be entirely happy until you complete the goal you originally set for yourself - to be an RN. Will your job help to pay for your tuition costs since you are furthering your career? Why do you think you'll fail? You just have to be positive and your best. Take it from me - I've started school again at 35 and am hoping to be a 6th grade science teacher - if I can do it YOU CAN DO IT! Think of your children as well - you'll be setting a great example for them for their future, etc. It'll be hard but it will be well worth it!

You have an unique opportunity to do what you want in life. The fear of failure that you have is only a borrowed fear that is not yours. If you are sure about wanting to become an RN, then get going and do not let any fear scare you. You are already ahead of the game because you know what you want and you have some experience in the field. Do not let past failures or the fact that no one in your family has been successful stop you from doing what you know in your heart is right for you. That is the thinking that is stopping you from grabbing your dreams and turning them into reality. Change how you look at the situation. Ask yourself what would happen if you were to go to school and be successful? Would you be happier? Would your life situation improve? I am betting the answers are a resounding YES. Instead of focusing on the fears, put your attention on getting what you want. See yourself now as already having your degree and the job of your dreams. Nursing is an excellent field. You are in the right place at the right time. Decide for yourself that you ARE going to do whatever it takes to get your degree. It is not a wish or luck. It is you taking positive action in the direction of your beliefs. This is how people create happy and fulfilling lives...by going after their dreams and never looking back. The ONLY thing stopping you is you. Give up your fear, make some plans, and follow through. If you don't do this thing for yourself now, you might later be in a situation that makes it impossible. Or, 10, 20 years from now you will be miserable because you didn't do what you really wanted to when you had the chance. As a dreamer myself, I know you can do it and that God wants you to be successful too.

Dear one, you should go for what help you make your life and the lives of your children better. It will take alot of work however with the background in the medical field that you have I think you should do fine! While in class you might make a friend or two so that you can study together. It would be a good support group for you too! You have a good opportunity, go for it!!

what you need now is a form of confidence booster. you should learn to risk things to see if you are really what you think you are. or you can break your family's record and be the first to become a successful member of your family. secondly, you need spiritual guidance. this will help you regain self-confidence, and will make you face challenges with a little trust in Him. He's always with you, all you need to do is talk to Him and ask for assistance. =)

hmm that one tough decision you got there dude :) the thing is simple come to think of it but really really hard to consider... for me if time, energy, hmm financial stability, and hmm the people around you (your husband or your parents) agrees to the fact that you go back to school, then why in the world hold back??? know the hassles of becoming a student of nursing and then gauge if you have the talent and teh patient to become one... dude i know people who's having second thoughts whether to continue their career as an RN after graduating, passing the boards and actually working for a time!!! why?? because the realize unfortunately that they are not built for the task... trust me i know, i work in a hospital too :) as a medical technologist :)well there... for me, dont hold back, as you said, BREAK THE CYCLE, YOU WONT GO ANYWHERE WITH THAT CHICKEN ATTITUDE OF YOURS!!!! GO! GO! GO!!!! :) goodluck :)

Let me tell you the fact that people say hard work will lead you to victory. Ofcourse it pays of. But the real thing which brings victory is you, there is no one in this world who can change your future, the only person who can change your future is you and you alone. Even God cant do no good to a coward person. Because God cannot work in a person who is affected with two things one is Fear and the other depression. Cmn girl past is past there is no way the failure of your family will follow you.You dont need any help the only thing you need to do is have a positive frame of mind. Stop looking the past instead look into the future. "Past is a story, Fiture is a mistry, Present is the gift from God try to utilize that gift properly. One thing i always believe is opportunities come rarely. Work hard, plus smart work too. Dont let the oppertunities slip from from your hand which comes your way, or else you will regret for which you cannot get back.I really believe you are very brave. You gave birth with daringness ready to face the concequences. Cmn dont give up. Its you who can change the fate of your life, your childrens and also your families aswell.

Hi there friend, my name is Yang and I am working as a nurse. Ever since, I was in elementary, I really wanted to be one of those who have the white uniform, with that nurse's hat and the injections :) I was a sickly kid, always confined in the hospital, almost every month and at that time, i was beginning to idolize the gurls in white. I would like to give my opinion, you know my life motto is that "every trials that comes to our lives were made to strenghten us and not to tear us down", you stopped with a reason, and you should start standing up from the fall and face the new horizon, being filled with thoughts of failure will not help u fulfill ur dreams, no one is too old to go back to school. Education is open for the young and old. If you want something, do it! FIght Fight! When you have the passion for nursing, pursue it! I'll be looking forward to being your colleague! GOODLUCK! Be optimistic! If others can, so can you! The nursing course just needs passion and perseverance as a fuel and when you have the heart for it, you will never fail!

You should not mind about your family's trend who did not finish their studies... Every person should have faith in order to succeed... You still have a very big chance to achieve your goals in life. Step out.get courage. Sing out in your heart: Be bold and be strong, Banish fer and doubt, The promise of your GOD is to bless your comming in and going out. There are some basic strategies to become a successful college student : 1. Vicinity and choice of the educational institution : If you are a prospective college student whose family is very important to you and is considered to be your inspiration, the nearer you college is to your home, the better. When a feeling of homesickness is experienced, you can at least drop by your home in a short time and thereafter go back to your dorm with a revived encouragement. A little bit of reminder, though, is for you to assess the colleges within your residence before enrolling into one. 2. Appropriate preference of a college degree : Seriously consider the right degree for you. You excel in your basic subjects in high school so you can take off the selection from there. Better yet, request for the assistance of your guidance counselor whose job, among others, is to provide career help such as this one. You are lucky if your chosen degree is offered in nearby colleges or universities. 3. Planning notebook : As a college student, you should maintain a planner or a notebook with a task calendar. You have to list down all to do activities for the week on regular basis. This will help you not overlapping some activities. Priority assignments are on top of the list. 4. Study ahead of time : Give some time to your studies. Make it as a habit to learn the lessons ahead of time. Once a final exam or short quiz is scheduled, this would be a breeze to you. 5. Be bold, respectful, and honest : There are times when lessons can be hard to assimilate and understand. If you experience this difficulty, approach nicely the professor who teaches this subject matter. Be sincere and request assistance in a kind manner. 6. Mingle with wholesome students : To be a part of a clique is cool. Choose your student friends rightly. Assess them on how they will help you become a successful college student. Students with bad habits can be an acquaintance. But your friendship should not be close enough to influence you. Better avoid them first time. 7. Make future assigned projects in advance : You will still have time to revise one for its betterment if you do it ahead of time. 8. Be inspired : Inspiration helps in your success. Pray for guidance. You will be enlightened.

Sounds to me as if you have a mind set. You said that no one in your family has been successful. That has always been the case and unconsioucly you say that to yourself. No one has succeeded , no one has suceeded. That is why you are afraid. It has been brought home to you that no one in your family succeeds. Well you break the cycle and go for it. Not for your children or anyone else. Do it for yourself. If you want it its there waiting. Be like the little engine that could and say I think I can, I think I can, I know I can.

I am an undergrad Nurse too..I haven't finished due to having kids as well but that didn't stop me from reaching for my dreams.I didn't try to finish this coursebut I plan to in time...for now I am working at a call centr and getting paid big. It's not because your family failed in succeeding means you have to fail as well..Failure comes from deep inside ourselves. If you think you'll fail you will...Think positive...believe in yourself..make your kids your strength to succeed..do you want them to fail too in the future thinking that you failed as well? If you love your kids do this not for yourself but for them..I am where I am now because of my kids and my dreams.

Hi good day! You dream of being a registered nurse, so go for it girl, its your passion and you will likely succeed if you only aim for it. I am a registered nurse as well and i just passed out nurse licensure exam here in my country and i was really happy about it because all my hard work for the past years was really worth it. Though no one in your family has become successful in life, try changing it and be the first one to be succeeful in the field you love. Just work hard even though you have kids. Your doing this because you want to give them a better life. Do not be afraid of failing because all of us go through with that and its only us who can actually solve it. Dont let anything destroy your dream of becoming a nurse. Your still young and i bet if you start studying nursing, you can appreciate its worth and someday youll be successful. god bless!

Just do it! You are young enough to achieve any of your dreams and you should be optimistic and confident in your life. You said you are a mother of twins,so if you dare not to break the hard life, what about your children? You should make an example for your twins and be a tough mom! Anyway, believe yourself and dreams come true.
