The Holy Bible is the Word of God which is the truth. It is not a fiction and so the Holy Bible should be classified in the libraries as non-fiction.

If books are classified in the libraries as fiction or non-fiction, the Holy Bible should be under non-fiction because it is the Word of God and it is the truth.

Agree, but for wider circulation perhaps, it may be placed anywhere.

good question! since the only true bible is the papyrus they wrote the original inscriptions upon but they are stories told by them, the 4 apostles, there interpretation of what they saw at the time. It was written in Hebrew and has been change so many times what is the truth?

well this is a very debatable topic due to the fact that we have some very religious people out there with there own very strong religious beliefs. but i would have to agree with you in full that its fiction. theres many facts in the bible that states that its possible that its untrue.

Libraries shelve their books by category, using the Dewey Decimal System. So bibles are in the religion category. What people believe about the truth or nontruth of any bible is irrelevant. I personally regard any bible as fiction but, since fiction is shelved by author, who would be considered the author?

I would go with you on that. I can't believe anyone else would agree with us on that, though.

In my country the Bible, commentaries on the bible and all other religious books are classified under non-fiction. This because the Bible can be studied in a scientific way.

They should have a section for those they can't classify since no one will ever agree whether or not it's fiction or non-fiction. Less arguing this way because then it wouldn't be endorsed by any particular librar, no one gets sued. Everyone's happy. Well, nearly everyone..loads of people will be offended. But it is a very fair thing to do. Though I myself would classify it as fiction, the president wouldn't. Arguing's pointless, so we might as well out ALL religious books there as well..or else just have a religion section like a few libraries I've seen have done. It's virtually the same idea as mine, and works better lol. Kinda sneakier too..but ah well.

Wow, I'm first of all suprised that this discussion isn't number 1 of all discussions. I think they should classify this book under non-fiction because if you read the bible you'll notice that all you have or have not achieved in life. Simply repeats itself through you. Each passage is a journey, a sense of everything you have ever gone throughout you're own life is already stated in the bible as if your life is writing the passages itself.
