We call my Dad, Eeyore lol. I'm called Princess Raincloud *rolls my eyes* my brother's called mudboy. An' mom's simply mom..go figure O_O One of my best friends actually has an alter-ego lol. And another of my best friends I nicknamed Jay (which is now the only name he goes by, which is soo awesome to me), since..well he just fit the name..and his first name's kinda long anyway..so Jay it was. What about you guys? Do any of you have nicknames for the ones you love and care about? Why do we dub nicknames to people to begin with?

lol! At Burger King, my old job, my fiancee was that robot (I forget his name), my friend John was R2-D2, he was short, and I was Chewbacca (sp.? we always say Chewie)... because at the time I had thick brown hair and didn't take offense. I love nicknames, they often show a sense of who you are, what you're into, or a time of bonding.

Another good discussion xParanoiax, I'm always shortening peoples names and making up nicknames for them - even my cats don't escape. My daughters nick name is Betty Boo, my cats real name is Ollie but I call him Bobbob, my other cats name was Pickles but I called her lillie, another friend is called tracey which I shorten to trashy, and my newest nickname is for scary_dog who has now become moobob. Don't ask me why I feel the need to do this perhaps it's a show of affection?

Haha awesome, those sound like cool nicknames (and thanks ^.^) I think it probably is a sign of affection, since most nicknames I know of friend and family wise tend to bring up fond memories, that sounds logical to me :)

my son is nicknamed Bo, he actually gave himself that name when he was 2. His favorite tv show was Dukes of Hazard, and he wanted to play Bo and Luke Duke, and I've called him Bo ever since! He's now 27! And where I used to work, my boss gave me the nickname Weasel, and it stuck! Actually, I don't mind (I've been called worse!..lol).

If I remember rightly you used to be called Princess Sunshine!! Your Momma being unpredictable at times it is no wonder there is no nickname. Nicknames can be cool, sometimes confusing unless you really know the family. I tend to have sort of nicknames for my cats and dogs! Sure will be interesting to see what others have to say!
