What do you pay for cable where you live?

We have cable and road runner and the price just keeps going up. I'm getting so tired of them going up on the price all the time. We just have the basic cable, it's not digital and we have nothing extra. It is going up to $50 starting next month. I'm really thinking about going to satellite cause I'd get more channels with them for what I'm paying now.

Thankfully, I live in a dorm, and I don't have to pay any bills except for the room and board fee in my tuition.

That's good. It's almost $100 altogether (for cable and internet) each month and I think that's crazy.

Where we are, there is no cable. I wish there was. Satelite is no bargin. Same ole shows repeated over and over, up to 40 years ago. I feel like it is a waste of money. Same about as much as cable, give or take $10. for extra old junk.

Cable isn't out where my mother in law is either. She has satellite but I haven't asked her how well she likes it.

Our cable here is not good at all. I have dish which is pricey but worth it. I do have cable connection for the internet only and it is stable at $53.00, but the dish is $62.00. So combined they are $115.00. I could have bad cable TV and the connection for $99.00 a month. I would rather pay the extra and enjoy what I have with my tv channels and my internet connection.

When our cable bill got to over $50.00 per month we had it cut off. I rarely watched TV anyway and for the little bit I did watch it was not worth it. At first it was a hard adjustment especially for the kid (aged 11) but it has been gone over a year now and we do not miss it. The kid reads more, which is a good thing, and we do get all our local stations. I also rent DVD's and download shows so I don't miss cable at all.

I was thinking of just having it turned off. I watch some kids in my home and they are all the time asking me if they can watch cartoons so that's the problem I'm having. The cartoons that they watch are all on cable. But I guess I could just let them start watching more movies. I do keep them occupied doing crafts, lessons, reading books, etc but they still want to watch the tv sometimes.
