Rating Stars

There will be days when I make controversial posts or discussions about politics, and all of a sudden my star rating drops down. Do you think people rate negatively just because they don't agree with your personal viewpoint? Does that happen to you too? Why do you think people do that? How do you feel about it?

Every site that has ratings has this problem. All you can do is learn to accept it because there's nothing you can do about it. There will always be people who will drag you down if they don't agree with you, or even if they think you're doing better in the ratings than they are. It's human nature.

I think all the stars actuallyshow is how popular you are, and how you havent contradicted anyones opinion. I think it is a system too easily abused and should be abolished, as irate members or members that have contrasting opinions, can abuse them. It is not a true indication of ones posting ability and I dont think it should have any impact on the amount a person earns, as it apparently does.

Absolutely! Several people have noticed this. I know that I have had this happen twice already, and I expect that it will happen again tomorrow. Everybody knows that a negative rating is to be used only if the response is not related to the topic, is a 1-2 word answer, or is abusive in content. The fact that you don't agree with somebody does not mean that his/her response deserves a negative rating. I don't see any way that we will be able to change this. Some of us are always going to keep getting into these controversial discussions and will have to pay the price for it, I guess!
