Does anybody have a favourite in the series? I'm only just finishing book 2 (so no spoilers!!), I have books 3,6,7,8,9 & 11, and really want to read the backs of them to see what happens...but also don't want to spoil it for myself!

I agree with some of the others, the series needs to finish. I enjoyed the first five the most, six and seven were good, eight - ten just seemed to drag out for me, maybe it was just the time i read them i wasn't into it. Book 11 was very good, i looked forward to how this all wraps up.

Wow.. I'm not sure that I could pick just one of them as my favorite. I love the whole series. And unlike the other responders, I hope the story never ends. I love the characters and the story lines. Robert Jordan is an incredible author. I'd tell you my favorite happenings but I don't want to ruin it for you. It's a series that you have to read and discover for yourself. I've got almost all the books now, although I'm missing book #2 :( I've been keeping my eyes open for it everytime I hit the thrift stores. I've got an extra soft cover copy of Path of Daggers (book 8) so if anyone out there wants to trade a book 8 for a book 2 just let me know.. LOL..

I don't know why I never think of e-bay when I'm thinking of books. I'm off to open another window and do just that :) Thanx.

I have read all of the books in this series, multiple times every time a new book was due to come out I would start with the first and as soon as I finished the last book I would go get the new one, just to be as familiar with the story as I could be. This is one of the greatest stories I have ever read. The detail and the character relationships are spectacular. There is one thing I do not like about these books. Jordan excels at makeing you feel like you are there in the story, when the trollics are closeing in, when walking through the courtyard of one of the many majestic palaces. I would have to say that my favorite (so far) has to be book 4. I think you will love this story it only gets better.

The best bookl in the series is going to be the LAST ONE. This has been dragged out so long and with so much sideline storytelling and over embellishment of environmental details that the most recent few books have been tough to slog through. I still haven't read KOD because I don't know if I have the tenacity to plough through it. I will eventually, but I really wish it was less dense.

I'm almost through book 5 now, and I do get what you mean how some things seem to be dragged out, but so far I am still enjoying it :)

I like the first five books, my personal favorite being the 3rd, "The Dragon Reborn". Robert Jordan has a unique talent. He made me believe in certain impossibilities, and then surprised me by breaking down his own myths one by one. You'll see many *miracles* happen in the Wheel of Time universe as the books progress. However somewhere he made disappear a certain character which I was so fond of, and I began to grow cold from the series; there's so much politics and schemes and *Daes Dae'mar*, I soon started to feel I was watching local news on TV rather than reading an action/fantasy book...

I have read all the books so far, up to #12, Gathering Storm. Until book 11 my favorite was the 1st book, lots of action and fast-paced. Gathering Storm tops that by far. I'm thinking of reading New Spring, the story about Moiraine and Lan, and how they met (there's a little bit of it in book 2, The Great Hunt, and it got me interested). Altough 1st and 12th are my favorites, I think the best book is the 4th one, The Shadow Rising. Rand is still struggling with saidin and playing games with the Forsaken, but the new characters, the Aiel in more detail and the Forsaken themselves make it a fascinating read. But I recommend to read all the books in correct order.

Book 2 was my favorite. I'm so bored with the series though. It's been dragged out for far, far too long.

my favorite would have to be book five, because it is where Rand and Aviendha get closer--Aviendha is one of my favorite characters, along with Perrin, Mat and the hot-tempered Nynaeve. i agree with the others in this discussion--Robert Jordan is really a talented man! he combines action, adventure, romance, drama, horror, comedy and politics in a stunning story that could literally take your breath away and leave you wanting for more--and i'm not kidding! i'm totally hooked on this series...and now, i just wish the last book (book 12) would come out soon!
