Did You Hear About The Virus?

I received a warning in my e-mail today from a very good friend, which concerned me greatly, because one of my Mylot friends had his computer wiped, on Saturday. You'll see why this causes me concern, when you read the following message. Please take note and be very vigilant....
VERY IMPORTANT WARNING
Please Be Extremely Careful especially if using internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and so on. This information arrived this morning direct from both Microsoft and Norton.
Please send it to everybody you know who has access to the Internet.
You may receive an apparently harmless email with a Power Point presentation "Life is beautiful."
If you receive it DO NOT OPEN THE FILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, and delete it immediately. If you open this file, a message will appear on your screen saying: "It is too late now, you life is no longer beautiful."
Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC and the person who sent it to you will gain access to your NAME, E-MAIL AND PASSWORD. This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon. AOL has already confirmed the severity, and the anti-virus software's are not capable of destroying it. The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself "life owner."
Please alert all your friends about this, as it is potentially hazardous! It's a genuine, very important warning.

Hi Darkwing, thanks for the advice I'll make sure I send it on to all my friends! I can't understand what people gain from making these viruses up and causing people misery - hopefully the laws of threefold will return to haunt them!

:-) Hi Bizziebod! You're quite welcome to the advice and I'm glad to hear you will distribute it to all your friends.
Quite honestly, the hackers gain nothing but satisfaction in the knowledge that they can do it. It causes a lot of heartache for some people not to be able to contact their friends and relatives on the computer. They rely on the daily contact, and the actions of these hackers are surely, despicable. A lot of people wouldn't know what to do if they received a virus, especially the older community, who use the computer as a safety net. Yes, lol... I hope the law comes back on them too. That's quite a possibility, don't you think? :-) They would perhaps realise then, what misery they were causing to others.
Thank you for your response, my friend. Blessed Be.

My computer has been very slow lately and I have had to do a system restore TWICE but to no avail. So I had to resort to re-istalling windows. As you know it is a time consuming task as I had to update all windows updates again which were 66 updates in all. Plus there were a few other programs that had to be re installed due to thier updates not being there. So all in all there is no future proof virus programs, as there are very malicious hackers out there that do not give a dam who they hurt or inconvenience due to thier unintelligent actions. I did not receive the virus that you have nicely warned about, but I had something lurking in there and hope I have caught it in good time. sorry to hear that you were affected and hope you are bug free again.

You're very welcome Gabs. I think perhaps the pleasure comes from just being knowledgable enough to actually do it; they take satisfaction in the one-upmanship, if you see what I mean. I think we have to fight these people to the best of our ability, and this was a good way of building an army.
Thank you for your response, Gabs... I will take care, of course. I kept the e-mail, so I can refer to it if in doubt.
You take care also, and I hope the move goes smoothly. Brightest Blessings. ;-)

You're quite welcome, and please do share this with all your friends. We need to beat these viruses before they spread too far.
Personally, I'm very wary about opening mail like that, but sometimes, they can fool you into peeking! lol. Curiosity gets the better of you.
Thank you for your response, and good luck. I hope you stay virus free.
