Butterflies generally comeout during the day, rest with their wings pointing upwards and have club-like tips to their antennae or feelers. Is it possible to tell butterflies from moth?

We dont have moths here. Now we dont even have butterflies. You know when I was in primary school, our classes were on the second floor of the building. During November December season "we call it Sri Pada Season" there are huge flocks of butterflies specially small yellow ones who fly passing our school. We believe they go to this mountain "Sri Pada" which is known as Adam's Peak where Lord Buddha has placed his right foot print to offer themselves. I dont know how far it is true. But there were lots of them during that time. Now we cant find any thanks to pesticides and pollution.

Hello ssh. Long time no see. I am wondering how you have been doing. From my sense of knowledge of moth, it seems that a moth comes out in the evening only. When light is turned on, a moth likes to fly towards it. I don't like moths. So I have a screen door and screen windows made to prevent them from coming in to disturb me and people inside. Take care, ssh.

Yes! I can tell butterflies and moths apart. It is simple! usually butterflies have colorful colors like bright colors while moths are often in dark shade like brown, black or gray. But, there are also some butterflies that have dull colors. So you must also check if its wings are pointed upwards or not :) happy mylotting
