I go for Open Office. Who wants to pay more in licensure of Microsoft if you only want to use some office works on your own? Then you should choose an office application which wont coz you, right? And you don't have the guilt or fear that you might cought b'coz ur using pirated MS Office. Open Office is downloadble and open to all platforms so why pay when you can have it for free. :) They said that the best thing in life is free. therefore Open Office is the best.

Open Office's user interface isn't as great as MS Office but it's decent enough. It's free and completely usable. I'd pick it over MS Office anytime. But only because I don't like MS.

I already did try them both and i have to say that microsoft is more accurate from running applications. When i tried Open Office, some are the same with Microsoft Office but lack of some options and shortcuts while Microsoft Office is complete and if a newbie to some they can easily understand the Microsoft Office. If a newbie runs Open Office, they will not understand this program and its application.

I've tried both of them. I think Ms Office is more familiar and user friendly. But Open office has an advantages too, it's a free program. We don't need to pay a license. And it has many feature too. Oh ya, Open Office has more format than Ms Office, so it has more compatibility than Ms Office.

I would love to use Open Office as it's free, but 99% of my business contact use MS Office. That leaves me no choice.

Open office for sure.cuz open office is an open source system.Which means that those who are interested can modify the program by introducing their own code.Of cource it requires great programming skills.
