It seems everytime I turn around that they are making some new law, that wasn't voted upon or that was a trailer added on to some other piece of vitally needed legislation that was voted in. There are laws prohibiting everything, and even the laws that don't prohibit one thing are backed by some law that is phohibitive of some aspect such as the 5150 law out here which makes a grown person a "ward of the courts" due to them being a harm to themselves or others. This indignity is normally thrust upon those who have attempted and/or threatened suicide. This law makes it legal to hold you for as long as they may wish without having to charge you with anything and carries on with you forever on your record.

Sharone, I absolutely hate the state of Kalifornia's politics. It seems the politicians down there feel that the government needs to protect everyone rather than letting them pursue their happiness. I don't understand it. No offense Sharone, but I really wish Kalifornia would drop into the ocean. Yes it would be a waste of some great scenery but I don't know what else to do about it.

I agree w/ you. It seems like everytime you watch the news there's always a story about some law that has been passed in that state. Makes you wonder how busy those politicians are and if they have something better to do than deal with other problems at hand.

Well, those items are voted on. That isn't a police state. And I have seen such a law before, but they have to prove that you are a danger to yourself before they can hold you.
So no. Although at face value it might be tempting to make an issue with it, critical thinking deconstructs it.
