Im always using Video Lan Player. It is a highly portable media player, encoder and streamer that supports many audio and video codecs and file formats as well as DVDs, VCDs and various streaming protocols. Through my experience, it can play almost of the video files i wanted!!! You got to try it, its free..

I just use windows media player as it comes installed on my computer. I do not need a really good video player as I do not play movies on my computer but I have a dvd player and a tv for that stuff.

First choice is VLC Player. Second is MPlayer. For Real Media and Quicktime, I use Real Alternative and Quicktime Alternative.

For DVDs and other optical discs with video, I use WinDVD 7 Platinum. I like its hotkeys, and the fact that it doesn't lock up like CyberDVD when you try to RV/FF. For everything else, and for when I'm using a machine that doesn't have WinDVD, I use VLC Portable. It's stable, and it plays everything I have. I've gotten a few video clips that wouldn't show up right in WMP, but they all work just fine with VLC. :)

Windows Media Player is the best software for videos only you have to download codecs to see different formats.

I use windows media player just because it comes with windows..... No need to install another app after formatting my pc. Furthermore, WMP have all that a good media player should have. skins, visualisations, sound quality, playlist, support for wide range of audio formats and last but not least, availability of plugins to increase functions..... So why go for another player?????

I use VLC with .avi, .mpeg, and other common files. I never play real files, cause I hate real player. I use K-lite codecs with quicktime files.
