If you have a tendancy of missing periods or have horrible period related symptoms , you should seek medical attention immediately and ask them to run tests for polycystic ovarian disease . It is a disease that affects many woman and they are absolutely unaware that the problem even exists . There is no cure for tis disease but there are many treatments available . Earlier detection of course is the best thing . This disease can lead to overian cancer which is a major killer . It's best to get treated before it turns into that .

This is very good advice, thank you. I'm only 21 and have not yet missed a period but do experience horrible cramps to the point of having to lay down if possible. I know my mom has been going through missed periods but she's in the early stages of menopause right now. Thanks for sharing these tips with me, I'll keep them in mind.

I always had irregular periods, and when ever I had periods, they would be heavy and last long. most of the time I would go months without periods... After I got married it was better.. for 6 months.. then I had my periods continously for 25 days...phew! found out from the doc that I had PCOD.. she put me on birth control. I also gained so much weight while I was on birth control..so I stopped taking them, Now its been 2 months since I last had my periods.I keep taking pregnancy tests..hoping that i would be pregnant, but its negative. Is there anyway...that I could get pregnant without seeking medical help?

chances of PCOD turning into malignancy(cancer)are extremly rare, as these are the non- neoplastic enlargements of ovary. So one should not be afraid, its prognosis is good. Recovery may be natural as in some cases it is a selh - limiting disease. Otherwise various kinds of treatments are available, both medical and surgical.
