Hey incase some of the former Wal-Mart associates from the last five years haven't heard - you might be getting a check in the mail. The company apparently messed up when paying overtime and a with some incentive programs and they are now paying a BILLION dollars out to these employees. Some are getting $1 some well over $100. Just depends. I'm not getting that much personally. I just wanted to let you all know. Here's the website you can go to or the phone number you can call to find out if/how much you'll be getting. www.dol.settlement.wal-mart.com 1-888-262-1559

Yes, I had heard that as well. Thanks for the website, I just checked and I won't be getting anything. *sigh* but I didn't think I would. I have a friend who still works there, and she got a dollar. (: Good luck at walmart, I worked there for 4 years, and I can honestly say it was horrible from the begginning to the end, although I had a nice supervisor, and I did well, I was not sad to leave, hopefully it is not so bad for you!

Oh it is. I hate being there. I reach my seven years shortly and plan to leave as soon as I can. It's just hard cause I need to work 3rd shift - or I'd already be gone. But thanks! And sorry you didn't get any cheddar!

That's so true. It is hard to leave. I'll be taking a big pay cut (more than likely) when I do leave. I've got 7 years of raises...but I think it'll be worth it. Your welcome :)

Yes, Walmart is a hard job to stick with, but it seems it's even harder to leave, because it's such a big company, and there is always room for you there.. *sigh* hopefully you'll find another job. Thanks for the best response! (:

Wow! What a great thing to hear! I have such a hard time justifying shopping at WalMart. I try to stop shoppping there but it's a darned if you do and darned if you don't situation. I refuse to use the self-checkouts. The only way that I can support still shopping there is that if I quit (not just me of course), then the employees that are being treated unfairly would be without a job at all. It makes my heart a little lighter knowing that something good is happening to some of them. ~Donna

I know what you mean. When I get to leave that place though - I will rarely shop there. I hate that place.

Thanks so much for the link. I went on there and my husband and I are owed a little bit of money. But hey I will take it. We have both since left the company for better opportunities. We both said we'll take whatever money is owed even if it's just a little bit.

Aww bummer, according to the site I'm NOT owed any money. I figured as much. I really didn't get what I deserved when I did work there. I certainly would expect it now either. I used to work the 3rd shift too! It's killer especially if you have kids you have to take care of too!

With all the griping about how bad wlamart is i am still surprised people that work there do not unionise and make them improve working conditions. I realise the only stores to unionise were closed but do not belive they would close them all and this would improve the working conditions and wages, hrs of work etc. The UFCW the stores that are unionised still have problems, but the wages are better, working hrs are better, benifits are better and the prices are the same as walmarts. take the money from walmarts pockets and put soem of it back in yours you work hard for them they shoudl pay you for it.

My Husband got a check but it was only like $1 and they took out taxes so he only got it for like 60cents or something like that. I can't remember what I did with it or I would give you the correct ammount.

LOL - mine was only a little over $7 and that was put onto my check. So I really didn't notice it either.

That's strange. They never had any problem giving me back pay. They had too several times too.

It says I'm not due anything, but they currently owe me over $100 in backpay for changing my position before changing my pay. I got 80 cents less on the hour for two weeks. They are trying to get out of it despite the fact personnel didn't do their job.

I'll check that out. Thanks! But I'm sure that I won't get anything. They would never let any of us work more than our scheduled hours. They'd even have people shut down in the middle of a busy afternoon at Christmas if you were close to going over whatever they'd scheduled you for...

How long has your husband been working there? He should have heard about it months and months ago esp if it effected him.
