it's ok to expose your child to the internet but make sure that you are there to supervise. i read in an article before that children 5-8 years old begin to develop their fondness with media. they tend to absorb things they see on tv, books, and even the internet. at that age, they only have a vague differentiation between what is good or bad and right or wrong. so with the plethora of things to find on the internet, i think that it is best that you are there with him when he uses the computer and make sure that he is only browsing sites that are proper for his age. and i think that could also serve as a bonding activity for the two of you.

I think it's good to let your son get exposed to computers. We are in the computer age anyway, and it doesn't hurt to have your son get ahead of his peers. The important thing is for you to guide him regarding the things he can and can't do when surfing the internet. If you can't be with him, activate the parental controls in your browser so he doesn't get access to offensive and mature content. Most of all, just enjoy the time you spend together as you both learn from the internet.

thanks for your response. that's what i'm thinking of and it causes me problem, but its true that we are really in the computer age now and i don't want him like ignorant. so i guess there's nothing wrong with that i'll just have to guide him through. thanks again!
