Where is Salem?

Does anyone know what state the town of Salem is actually in? Supposedly Steve drove Shawn and Belle through Northern Michigan to get to Toronto. That is rediculous no matter where Salem is. You might cut through Detroit to get into Ontario but not Northern Michigan.

For Days of Our Lives (their town of Salem) is completely fictional. A made up town name that's set in the mid-west somewhere.

There's a Salem in Oregon. That's where those witch trials were several hundred years ago.

I wouldn't be surprised to find there is a town called Salem in every state. There's one here in IL. I remember reading in a "Days of Our Lives" book once, that it is "based" in the Midwest. I'll have to see if I can find that book again. It had the town layout and floor plans of some of the houses... It was pretty cool.

I just found this site: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Days-Lives-1157/Days-set.htm that states: "The fictional town of Salem is known as "Salem, USA" as the show has never officially given it a location. However, due to location distances given on the show (like distance to Chicago), County names, and the presence of an actual town called Salem, many people believe it to be in Illinois."

i was surprise to know that there are lot many salem city all over the world. as im from india, in tamil nadu there is a state called salem and it is fully covered with mountains and it is famous for mangoes. i love mangoes a lot.
