I was watching the news this morning and they were talking about Mitt Romney and his run for the Presidential office. They were saying he dosen't have a chance because he is a Mormon and people have strange views of them. I voted in the last election and I have no idea of the religions of the canidates. Im not trying to start a political debate here but I found this odd. Why not judge on where he stands on political views, of if he is an honorable and ethical person?

If more Americans shared your views, then this would be a better-run country. I agree that the candidates should be judged by their ability to do the job, their overall moral integrity and sense of ethical responsibility (as determined by past performances in the political arena) and on their views and proposed solutions to the major political issues and problems that are currently in the forefront. Race, religion, gender, and even political party should not be important. Unfortunately, many people would never vote for a woman, or an African American, or a Mormon... Many people are very closed-minded and discriminatory, even when they claim not to be. I am a registered Republican, which does NOT mean that I blindly voted for Bush just because of his political affiliation with the party. I did not feel that he was the best candidate at the time of his re-election, and I voted for who I thought would do a better job. 2008 promises to be perhaps the most interesting Presidential election in history. With all that is stake right now with our country and the world, I pray that people will put all bias aside and vote according to ability only. If I feel that a woman is the best one to straighten out the country, or a Mormon, or whoever, then that is who I will vote for.
