Clothing Stores

So, I started working for a clothing company called RUEHL No. 925 this week. I have done retail before and I have done retail clothing before as well. So this clothing store bit isn't new to me at all. But with this store I have already seen a few "plastic" things. Let me explain. RUEHL is a branch of Abercrombie & Fitch. Most of the people that work there look like those Malibu/Calafornia Barbies or a life size Ken. My store, I have noticed, has a lot of hispanics, but they don't speak english. So between plastic and spanglish, I'm not fitting in. I am no where's near plastic and even though I am hispanic, unfourtunatly I do not speak spanish*a pity, know* So my thing is, I don't think I will click here for long. Has anyone else been in a situation like this before? How did you feel? Just curious, not looking for advice or anything. To keep the job will really be my decision. Thanks!

I always do. But you avoided my question and concerns. But I guess you just needed to respond somewhere. Thanks anyway.

no dear... whenever someone asks me what they want to do with their life... that is best response.... a farmer will feel bored in an office and an office clerk will kill himself if made to sit in a noisy place... thats how life is .

Yea, if you say so. But yet and still you avoided my questions. The whole point of the post was to see if anyone has ever been in a situation like that themselves. If you re-read my post then you will see where I asked the question and exactly what type of response I was looking for. But yea, its okay. Thanks anyway.

I live in Colorado...which can alternatively be called New California. THis means I have had to deal with my share of "plastic" people. You seem very nice, so you'll probably last alot longer at Ruehl no. 925 then I ever could. I am extremely blunt and become irritated easily. For example:I worked at this marketing place (won't name names) but the company worked with alot of of pop-culture campaigns like, MTV, Virgin Mobile, etc. My husband and I were expecting our first child and even though, like the rest of my coworkers, I was in my early 20's, it's like I might as well have been a 40 year old trying to sneak into a high school freshman class. The women & men looked like, if I may steal your line, Ken & Barbie's. They spoke a completely different language mostly consisting of, "Like, and then we were all like...and it's so cool cause like you could tell he was soooo into me."It literally hurt my brain. I finally decided to get myself fired (unintentionally) by blurting out to one of the most superficial women I've ever met who never stopped talking and never saw a reason to wear actual clothes to work who sat next to me, "Maybe if you'd stop gossiping about god-who-cares-what, maybe we could all get our work done."Moral of the story, I know you didn't ask for any advice but could I please suggest that finding work you can actually tolerate is much better than bottling up all the things you wish you could say to these posers and having it all spill out in a verbal assualt against your co-workers. sorry about the long response. OH and good luck with the cheer squad!^_^

Awe, you saw the cheer squad post. Thank you mama. Well your post was long, but it was nice of you to respond. But yes I agree with you. Something I can tolerate is something I rather do. But I will stick this out for a bit and see where I can get with this job. I just don't want to be stereo-typed when I walk out the store and have people look at me. Not that I really care what people thing. But its just the stereo-types, ya know? But I actually just got another call from another place where I put an application in, so I'm gonna go check that out. Maybe I will like that better. Or maybe make more money. Either way, I am going to try all my options. Thanks for the luck and the advice.
