Why are some families so messed up?

I hear stories about some messed up families. What is wrong with these people. They treat each other so poorly. I do not understand why family members would treat each other like this. How does your family treat you?

My family is great we always show we love eachother even in the face of a heated argument. We will go as far as yelling I love you in a mean tone. Rather goofy I know but we never let the other leave without them knowing how we feel. As far as families being messed up I know what your talking about and feel bad for those who live without feeling the love they should.

My family rocks, too. I love them very much and they love me. I am just surrounded by so many families that do not love each other. It is odd.
