Seeking white dove/homing pigeon

We'd like to release one white or brown/white dove during memorial unveiling ceremony, in Milford, NH in early November. We do NOT want the bird to freeze to death, nor be injured, so would prefer a bird who has a home to return to. Ideas? Tips/pointers? Thank you very much!
