Hi everyone, Have you ever look at the above statement and wonder what it means? What does it say to you as you read it? Who are the sons of God? What does a peacemaker do? Today, I shall attempt to share with you alittle, on what I have learned. In the Bible, the book of Matthew, chapter 5 of verse 9, says: Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. (NIV) According to the book of Romans, chapter 8 of verse 14-15, it says: For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!" Therefore, the sons of God are referred to as born again, Believers of Jesus Christ. The peacemakers on the other hand, possess skills to assist in resolving conflicts between 2 parties. How it is possible that they should have such an ability to do so? They are individuals who are being led by the Spirit of God. And so, the sons of God do not have the power in themselves to be peacemakers. But, through the help of God's Holy Spirit, they are indeed called to be peacemakers on this earth. How then, can we be a good peacemaker? Let me share what I have learned about keys to conflict resolution. There are 4 keys: KEY 1. Love God passionately. The manner we relate to people around us, flows from our personal relationship we have with God. If our relationship with God is put rightly so, then we will have correct perspective of how to view other, not as what we see, but as God sees them. And out of that perspective, we will be able to.. KEY 2. Love people without condition. The manner in which God teaches us about what love is, is clearly seen in the manner He gave His only Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross, for the sins of all mankind. So that those who believe in His Son Jesus, will be saved. No longer condemned to eternal death (Hell), but given instead, life eternal (Heaven). All only made possible by the Grace of God. God's love is unconditional. Therefore, we should love people in that same manner, love them without condition. How is it possible? It is therefore, important to know and.. KEY 3. Understand people respond differently to conflict. There are various responses that people put forth to cope with conflicts. Some people respond to conflicts by blasting at those who are in disagreement with them. In order to cover up their sense of insecurity, they lash out to win, not realizing how they hurt others that way. Some choose to withdraw from any possible conflict in order to run away from the need to confront issues. Feelings and thoughts are bottom up and stay in that unhealthy state for a long time. Some choose to bend and yield to those who are more aggressive in order to keep peace. Knowing all these various responses gives us some idea towards understanding their reasons behind their responses. What then is the better response that would please God? KEY 4. Initiate a Godly response. In everything we do, pray first. Seeking God for His wisdom in how to be His effective peacemakers, in any given conflicting situations. Have patience to work through and resolve any conflicts that arise. It is important to wait for the perfect timing. Don't withdraw, rather, build a bridge. Don't judge motives, only address actions. Finally, talk about the issues, without attacking the person. In conclusion, as Believers of Jesus Christ, we have the priviledge to be called sons of God. In Romans 8:17, we are heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ. What a honour and blessing! If Jesus is indeed the Prince of Peace, then, I hope that what I have learned would be helpful to anyone who desires to be God's peacemakers here on earth. Indeed, blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Have a blessed week, everyone!
