Nightlights are wonderful investments!! My 3 month old doesn't like being in dark rooms to sleep either - we've put it down to the fact that so far in his lil life he's spent a lot of time in hospital ['cos he was premature and twice for urinary tract infections] and they never turn off ALL the lights. I'm not sure if it's "normal" [who knows what that is these days!!] but you definately aren't alone!

I think that is normal. Both my girls (aged 2 and 5) have to have a light on when they go to sleep. Have you tried a nightlight instead of the TV, as I don't think letting them fall asleep to the tv every night is really that much of a good thing.

We used to leave a radio on in our childrens bedroom. It made them feel that they were not alone in the room.

My 1.5 year old is really weird about the dark. He will not sleep unless the room is pitch black and there is no noise, but if we turn off all the lights in the living room to watch a movie, he freaks out. I don't know what it is. If he's not going to sleep, there can be no dark.. he doesn't like it unless he's sleeping. Weird.

When my baby was a month old up to 3 months we sleep with lights on. 4 months onwards we sleep lights off.. It did not bother her a bit... but i dont think its not normal that your baby hates the dark.. Its just how he likes things around him... =)
