why in India we move left side of the road and in foreign its right side?

why there's a difference between moving/driving on roads in India and foreign? what's the reason behind this?

It's not just india who drives on the left hand side of the road ... they do in England, Australia, New Zealand etc Majority of countries is on the right handside though!

initially world over everybody drove on the left side.... however americans after their independence as a protest drove on the right side... which was soon followed by France and other Anti-British counties. as long as the guy from the other lane knows which side of the road he should drive on... there is no difference

In my opinion, country's transportation choose their criteria to move whether left or right side..But, Through my innovative mind , I think that those countries which moves on right path use right direction and vice versa..LOLZ

ah!! the one reason for this which comes in my mind is that stering wheels in india are on the right side whereas its on left in the vehicles found in foreign countries.
