I'm a big time reader and I have almost everything that he's written (as well as a few other authors.. lol.. ) I have 3 bookshelves in my house and my bigges one is 1/2 stephen king books... I've read and re-read the books many times... it'd be real hard for me to choose just one as my favorite but if I absolutely had to I'd probably say "The Stand" with "It" coming in a close second... altho in both cases the movie was a big disappointment...

I have started reading all his books also. Ever since I read his Dark Tower series Ive been hooked. I was really amazed when he connected several of his other novels with his series. I'm not sure I have a favorite yet, but Salems Lot and It are pretty good.

Hi imsilver, I love reading books, alot of mine are reference books and I must admit I used to read alot of Stephen King books years ago - My favourite was Pet Semetary but again the book was nothing like the novel. I've just finished reading 'The Da Vinci Code', which was a bloody good book with alot of interesting stuff in it, I even found myself researching some of the information in there! Another good book that I would recommend is 'The Alchemist' by Paulo Coelho

I haven't read the Da Vinci Code yet but I've heard so much about it that it's on my list of books to read. I haven't heard of the alchemist but now that you brought it to my attention, I'm gonna keep my eyes open for it. Thanx

Lol..... I totally forgot about the Dark Tower series when I was submitting my response! I love some of the ways it ties into other of his books, and it is just a really intriguing storyline, keeping you coming back book after book

"The Shining" and it's because of Jack Nicholson.

My favorite book by him so far is Insomnia. It was absolutely trippy fun. And his book The Eyes of the Dragon was pretty cool too. Both were a bit different from his other works, though. And not near as main stream as others. I'm currently reading the Dark Towers series, on the third book right now. (going slow..) And I also have his newest book 'Cell'. But I havent read it yet. Will soon! But Insomnia is my favorite. It's one of my favorite books of all time, too.

Yeah, Insomnia was a good one :) I was totally surprised by Eyes of the Dragon. Not at all what I expected from a Stephen King book.

It is *so* hard to choose!! Like you, I own LOTS of his books and re-read them regularly. I think my absolute favorites are "The Stand", "Carrie", and "The Shining". But of course I love them all. And I agree with what you said about the movie adaptations. In general, they seem to make really bad movies out of his books, except "Carrie", "The Shining", and "The Green Mile"
