Is racism being contained in America or is it reducing.
I live in Lusaka, Zambia (in Africa). This time of the year many of us visit the Martin Luther King Jr Library (aka The American Information Center). Good place with a fine catalogue of publications. But in February, it is a hub of culture, they call it Black History Month.
After looking at the exhibition and listening to all the talk, one ends up having more questions than answers.
I wish to know, how rife is racism in America, especially between white people and black people? Is it on the decline or is it rising by the day?

In the area where I grew up it wasn't between the blacks and the whites. It was between the Spanish and the blacks. They are the ones that had the gangs and went to killing each other. Why is it when people talk about racism they always say white people and this group or that group. In my family tree we have asia, spanish and blacks so I wasn't raised to dislike anyone. I moved to the South so we could be near my husbands family. People always told me there was a lot of racism here. I haven't seen much of it and I'm glad. I was in a room where someone was downing people I stood up and walked out. Later they came to me and said sorry. I think what is happening in some places with each generation more and more die out. Please just remember everyone in America is racist.
