how do you cook?

one night,my mother told me cook a meal.I litter cook at my home.So i thought it would be a litter difficilut.I foud there were some vegetable in the kitchen.So i cut them and cook them together.However,it took much time to cook.
But luck,my mother said if i pour little oil,it would be fine.
