Hello, I haven't been on the net for a while because my baby is sick. The doctor says it is a viral infection, flu type, that causes her vomitting and diarhea. She's too young to receive a treatment apparently, she's 5 month old and has not started on solid food yet. Bloody hell! She has been like that for 4 full days, she's getting a bit better now but not back to normal yet. I went to a health food store to check out what's available but did not find anything, maybe because I am afraid to take the wrong medicine. Please is there anyone who knows a treatment that works for a baby to stop vomitting at least?

It is very hard to treat a young baby with a problem like this.I would be very worried in case your baby would become dehydrated and this can happen very fast with a baby so young. I see you are in Ireland so you should go to or call your local health service health centre and ask to see a public health nurse or at least ask them to get the nurse to call you and discuss your baby with you and advise you what to do. These nurses probably know a lot more about small babies than a docor would as they are working with mothers and new babies in the community all the time.Hope all goes OK and your baby is better soon.

I went twice to my GP, that's why I was looking for a few tips that might help. You know like we all do instinctively. I was just sick of seeing my baby sick like this. It has stopped on wednesday, no vomiting since. Her appetite is coming back slowly now. I wanted to know what other people do in that case.

AsI said the public health nurse would be the one to ask for the grannies recepies. They have a wealth of knowledge.
