On Star Trek : Next Generation the replicator has synthetic alchool - same taste it just doesn't get you drunk or anything. Would you still drink alchool beverages if they didn't get you drunk/take the edge off/buzzed? I personally don't drink alchool so I don't know if my assumtion of - then what's the point - is vaild. Do you just like the taste or do you drink for the effects? Let me know your thoughts...

I think I would so long as it tasted the same. It's more the test of the mixed drinks that I like. I don't get drunk and I don't drink that often but I do enjoy a good mixed drink now and then. I have to wonder though if it would taste the same really. Even on The Next Generation when Scotty was there he stated it didn't taste right. Something was off and he didn't know it was synthetic when he first tried it. If they could make it taste just the same then that works. I've had non-alchoholic drinks that taste just like an alchoholic one so why not?
