My four month old is cutting his first tooth, it seems like such a long time since i've had to deal with this, and I cannot remember what we did for our 2 year old, and in fact, in his baby book it said we didn't really do anything, I don't think it bothered him much. My four month old is very fussy, he won't eat, wont' sleep and only wants to be held. What did you use for your children when they were teething?

I have found several things that work well for my 3 kids. First, Baby Tylenol never worked, I had to use Motrin. Or homeopathic teething tablets. They are in the store by the baby vitamins. I also gave my baby frozen pancakes after they got older and could handle more solids. They got yummy food that just broke up into mushy pieces they could just swallow and it numbed thier teeth.

when in doubt, ask your doctor if you can give your baby Motrin. And he would be able to give you dosing instructions.

Infants tylenol helped my son and I give it to may daughter when she is in pain(since she is still teething)I also use the Hemopathic tablets and orajel. But the teething tablets seemed to not work so well on my kids.My mom said a lady used it on her daughter and had no problem with teething problems( Lucky for her)but it just didnt do the trick on mine.My daughter and son did not like teething on teethers either except I got my daughter a pooh bear teether that when the baby bites down on it it vibrates and I guess soothes the gums. You can usually find it in Wal-mart or Target I think had one. It's kept usally up where the other teethers are.

I always used to like to use the regular teething toys but both of my daughters favorite thing for teething was beef jerkey! It is great to help those first teeth to cut through their little gums. Try it i guarantee that you will be impressed with the outcome!!!

gripe water - I used gripe water when my baby started teething.
I used Gripe Water liquid by baby bliss. It really works, it's a supplement used to ease gas, colic, hiccups, and teething. When I used it my daughter stopped crying.

Ice is always good. Of course, this can't be given to a baby, but a baby can suck on it if it is wrapped in a light cloth (a clean hanky?). Tee Tree Oil is marvellous for mouth ulcers in older children and I have known it to be used for teething in babies. Just a tiny dab on the gum will help.

Yes, we have tried the ice in a washcloth, and that does seem to help at times.. I've never heard of the oil and will have to look into it. Thanks for the advice!

Maybe try sticking a wet washcloth in the freezer and letting him/her suck on it... I know cold really helps... or a freezable teething ring. Otherwise, maybe get some of those homeopathic teething tablets... they break apart really easy and you just rub them on the gums. Or maybe even a concoction made with clove oil... the kind that is edible.. when my wisdom teeth were coming in I'd rub clove oil on my gums to numb the pain... it worked as well as anything else. Good luck to your little one... cutting teeth hurts. Oh... and try Rescue Remedy to get baby to calm down and maybe sleep... hope this helps!

Hi there! When my children had their first tooth, my pedia advised me to give them paracetamol for pain relief coz they usually feel itchy, painful and irritating. Then, put some butter to their gums which the tooth is about to errupt. Then, if possible, put your baby's feeding bottle inside the fridge for he will be able to be fed. And more so, "Ice Cream" will do, it is a complete meal. Hope this helps!
