Why is it that so many grocery shoppers feel they have a right to judge what food they purchase? I feel I have a right to make a decision, what food I buy and eat....don't you? Judging is making a decision or an opinion. What's your thoughts...

I'm more picky on the smell than on the looks of it. If it looked extremely gross though, I wouldn't even wiff it and I'd walk away hehe.

I'm not sure I follow the question. Your first sentance sounds againts judging foods. The secind one not. Are you purposely contradicting yourself to make a point or am I misreading something? Force

I thought that's what you meant but didn't want to jump to conclusions. I think you're mixing definitions a little though. "Judge" as a verb has a few different meanings. Determining the winner of a contest, to evaluate, to estimate, and to pronounce a judgment on. If you're refering to threads about people judging others, I don't think it can be compared to judging what foods you put into your body. One is meant to simply evaluate an inanimate object for personal use the other is to determin another person's worthyness according to your own morality. Am I far off base? Force

You're right....judging has many meanings. Here's the definition I'm thinking on & Where I believe people get confused: Judging (verb)----means to form a judgment or opinion of; decide upon critically: Example:You can't judge a book by its cover. My point is that judging is making a decision/opinion about something...especially based upon your views and morals. . Yes...either an inanimate object with your moral views or a Person with your moral views. You're doing the act of judging. We do it all the time and its okay. I feel people need to realize its okay to judge, but not to condemn. Its what we do with that opinion of someone. That's where pride comes in and changes the judgement to a prideful puff. Making the judgment that you're better than someone. That's where judging goes wrong and becomes negative. Hope you see what I'm trying to say. It's interesting how people judge their food. Could be a good way to evaluate people too.

You're following the question just fine...by recognizing I'm trying to make a point. The point is about Judging. Judging is making a decision or having an opinion about something right. There's nothing wrong with doing that. Why is that word always used as a negative word?

I judge food by appearance. If too colorful,I will dilike it on first appearance.Again if some food looks like worms or something of that sort,I would rather reject it.

I think I judge my food more by smell than I do looks. I find that if something just smells terrible to me I have no desire to try it.

Well put, you can say that same thing about judging people. If it smells terrible, have no desire for it.

I do feel I have a right to judge what food I purchase. If it doesn't look good or smell good then I will not buy it at all. Im very picky on food presentation if it just looks gross then I can't bring myself to eat it at all.
