If you cant swallow the pill!!

I was reading about an older discussion on if it was okay to break the pill and mix it with applesause. Note: I am not a doctor but what I have to say comes straight from my pharmasist. I have taken effxor for 2 years now at 75mg. I can't swallow pills. I take mine every morning with yogurt.
It is okay to open the pill and mix with something. Just do not chew the tiny balls. Mixing with liquid such as coffee or juice is bad because the balls desolve. These balls are time released to give you dosage throughout the day. chewing or disolving the medication will make it lose its effect.
I have encountered many symptoms and problems with medication. I would love to hear from anyone who's having problems with this medication too. Also if anyone knows of a better alternative.

I also take effexor, but mine are generic tablets. I take 150mgs. but it's in 75mg tablets. I don't have anytrouble swallowing pills. But I have seven different medications I take daily. I hate it, I feel myself gagging even before I open any of the bottles. I know it's psychological, but I still get that feeling, I hate it so much. I don't think my effexor is as effective as it needs to be. I can tell a difference if I take it a few hours later than usual. God forbid if I skip a day...I'm a mess, crying at the drop of a hat.

i personally dont have a problem swallowing pills, i dont take many apart from pain killers nowadays i have very large ones that you cant open and split i find putting a pill in your mouth fil it with liquid of your choice prefferably water or juice and then the pill will swim around in the juice so then you just swallow and down it goes.

Always check with a pharmacist before you do ANYTHING with your medications. You also should be careful what you take your pills with. For example, grapefruit juice can negate, or in some instances increase, the effect of certain medications. Always be careful.
