I am studying employee rights and one of the discussions was if it is ok to use their internet on your lunch hour. What do you think?

I think that you should be allowed to use the internet on your time. There must be restrictions to the sites, no unapproate sites. I had used the internet when I was booking a personal flight. I did ask permission to do my searches. I seached best prices over a few days on my lunch hour.

I think it's perfectly fine if it's on your lunch hour. Using it on the company's time is another story, unless you have permission from your employer or it's work related. At my job we have access to the internet and use it all the time for work related searches and for printing out information. We're not supposed to use it for personal buiness but lots of people do anyway. I will admit that every once in awhile when we're really slow (I work in a retail showroom) and there are no customers and no other work to be done, I will check my personal e-mail really quickly and then get off. I'm usually on for less than 3 mins. and it doesn't affect my work performance or productivity so I don't see any harm in it. It's not right but it's also bothering anyone or interfering with work.
