Why do contestants think American Idol is a negotiation?

Ever notice how the people who really can't sing at all are the ones that try to negiotiate their way through? I am still trying to figure out how these people actually harbor the delusion (sp?) they can sing. And I am APPALLED by the reactions of people who receive their reality check when they are told they cannot sing. It just cracks me up, the fact they think that even though they cannot sing, if they cry enough they will get to LA. What do you thinl of people's reactions? What about the people who show up in costume?

I think it's totally staged for TV purposes. The costumes are part of the performers act to garner additional attention so that they will be remembered. I think what people need to concentrate on more is the singing than the presentation...remember Justin Guarini?

I think some of the people that audition are paid actresses and or actors. They pay these people to keep the rating high by making fun of these people. And this is also how they old some people's interest in the show. No one that bad will go in front of millions. THANKS!

I think that most of these people know that they can't sing, but they do it anyway because they want their 2 minutes of fame. Some people who have auditioned in the past actually became semi-famous because they are so bad. Remember the Clay Aiken look alike that got to go out and sing with Clay during the last season of Idol? I saw an interview with him in People magazine about a month ago. He gained some fame for having no talent at all!
