How well do you communicate with your partner?

This is a hard question as it maybe needed to define what good communication is.
Me I'm no longer in a relationship but when I was the communication was bad in my opinion. My wife and I never talked and the rare times we did we never understood each other.
What do you consider good communication? How good is you and your partner's communication?

my husband and I agree that we are not making decisions without talking about it. Now and then we did but we learned from it.
