When I am old, I would want a DNR in place on my living will. I wouldn't want to suffer something such as a stroke, or heart attack, and be kept alive on machines for months. It's a drain on resources, a drain on the family, and I would feel so degraded if I was aware of what was going on. I would prefer to die, if the other option is being comatose.

Well, Both my grandparents opted for this option, they were both in their seventies and had major health problems and were suffering everyday just to make it through a day both had diabetes too and as much as we wanted them to stick around and not sign the paper for not being resuscitated we knew it was their choice and they were ready to go to what they considered home. Would I do this? probably not.

I think it would depend on the situation. If I were terminally ill and knew that resuscitating me was only delaying the inevitable, then yes, I would rather just be allowed to die in peace.
If I were in an accident and sustained injuries that I could recover from, then please, exhaust all possibilities for bringing my a*s back!
