Does anyone know of a really good flea guard for cats and dogs?

Hi there... consider either Frontline, Advantage or Revolution. All are great spot-on treatments and each tube last for one month. Please note that the canine formula is different from the feline formulas so they should never be used in exchanged for one another or it could be life-threatening. Puppies over the age 8 weeks can use these spot-on treatments. Source: 27 year friendship with a veterinarian

All the spot ons are applied every 30 days. Frontline Plus, Advantage and Revolution are all great, but some can work better for pets better than others it truly depends on the infestation problem and how well they respond to the treatments. I've used all three and have found that Advantage and Revolution worked best for my cats. I've heard some people who said one didn't work better than the other so it truly depends on how well the infestations problems will respond to any so you have to experiment to see which works best.

I have used Advantage and it did not work on our 4 dogs at all. Then I switched to Frontline Plus and I will never go back. It really works wonders and is very easy to apply. It will work on fleas and ticks both.

I use Frontline Plus on my dog (the cat is strictly indoor) and we haven't had a problem with fleas since he has been on it. We apply it once a month all year long. It is pricier than what you get at the pet store, but it totally works. I'm not sure how young a dog you can use it on, though. It is sold only by vets, so you can make sure when you visit them. Also, fleas carry certain parasites like worms, so you should have your dog tested for those by the vet, too. Good luck.

Well everyone seems to agree on Frontline Plus...it must be at least worth trying...my poor puppy is scratching all the time. And yes your right about having the puppy checked for parasites...they can become a big problem.

I always liked Advantage better than Frontline, but if your animal is frequently bathed, you should use Frontline just because it is much more waterproof. I use Advantage myself on my cat and my dog.

Sorry I can't help you there. Our cat stays inside alot and never got fleas before. So, I don't really know of anything good that helps with that.
