storing sterling silver and siler plated in an airtight container or wrapping each piece in plastic wrap prevents tarnishing.

I am going to have to try that. I have a sterling silver ring that tarnished, you know what worked? Toothpaste and water. (Just a smidge of toothpaste) I used an old toothbrush and gently scrubbed.

I keep my silver in it's box wrapped in cotton. I've had it that way for years, and it's never tarnished on me. I've never even had to do anything but clean them after use on Christmas and other holiday meals.
