Columbus-Discoverer or murauder?

In America, kids are taught that Chris Columbus "discovered" America. ie. The New World. His pretty well endeared as a hero here. Some are of the opinion that he led to the raping of an inhabited land and it's people. What are your thoughts. I'd especially like to here from Americans and Italians but anyone if you know of him please speak up. Thanx, Force

well i wouldn't say he's the real discoverer since there were already ppl on the land he "discovered". plus he "discovered" it by accident i think, it wasn't even his intention to go in this direction if i remember correctly

How exactly DO you discover a land that is already inhabited. Well, it wasn't inhabited by Christians so I guess that doesn't count. Force

exactly, that's what i said, ppl were on it already so it isn't a real discovery
