I want to do Weight Watchers again, but at this point in my life, the cost is prohibitive. I am looking for Weight Loss buddies to help me through this. Here is what I am thinking, we can keep it organized. I know a fair amount about Weight Watchers and figure that we can have a thread that discusses the program, help people with points of stuff is that is what they want to do. We can report our ups and downs, we don't have to tell our weight, we can motivate each other. Then have other threads for recipes - desserts, main courses, hints to help us get through the day, exercise hints and tips, new foods coming out to make the journey easier, motivation. Are you interested in joining me, any other suggestions for some threads? If I get some interest here - I will get it started. All threads should be tagged weight loss buddies to keep it easy. Imagine a thread with just weight loss desserts.

I've been to Curves and enjoyed it, but our local Curves has very limited hours... I like to exercise around 8:00 in the evening and that's when ours closes :( I had hoped that as they grew they would extend their hours, but they haven't... you have to be started by 7:30 and out the door by 8:00 p.m.

I could stnad to loose a few pounds-- ok like 10-15 to be exact- It seems the older we get the harder it is to keep it off.. I'm tall and have never had any problems with my weight until recently.. Its like I eat the same-- but somehow some weight just stays on longer- : ( I'd love to involve myself with this-- Let's hope some more people will agree and get the ideas flowing!

I agree, I am hoping to get this started this weekend, maybe we will pick up momentum as we get rolling. I am hoping to get to 500 so that I can cut and paste those recipes rather then having to type them in. I wish I was only having to lose 10-15 pounds, but we have to see it not as a diet but an eating plan for life. Hopefully we can learn some good recipes and good tips which will make this life plan easier.

Carbohydrates do not make you fat. Calories make you fat. Often it’s the sugar and fat contained in carbohydrates that make you fat. Also a lot of carbohydrates are processed, so you don’t get the advantage of feeling full from fiber found in unprocessed carbs. For example, whole grain pasta is more filling — and makes you feel satisfied longer — than white pasta, though both have the same amount of calories. What will change the number of calories is the amount of sauce and butter you put on your pasta. What you want to do is eat carbs in moderation.

I think it is a great idea to start a weight loss support group. :) Support from others is sometimes what is exactly needed to get through a bad day instead of allowing one's self eat the chocolate éclair for emotional support. ha ha Oh come on...you have got to agree that a chocolate éclair makes everything better! :) But I too have had to change my diet and can say that over the last few months, I have lost 20 pounds. Now...that isn't enough yet because it is just in the high bracket of my weight range. And since I am actually very small boned, I know I should be in the low of the weight range for my height. So...I still need to loose 20 more pounds. But here is the kicker. I am borderline diabetic nd can not consume more than 10 net carbs per meal. Of course, I have stretched that from time to time to 14. ha ha But now that I am half way to my goal and feeling better because my sugar is not too high, I have to be careful of the foods I eat. Even foods that claim to be diet are too high in carbs. So, if you have anything that you run into that can help, I would really be interested! :) Great discussion!

My other 1/2 is a diabetic as well, he can go up to I think it is 24 carbs in a meal. 10 is really low. I will certainly keep an eye out for you. Have you tried eating barley. We use that in soups instead of a pasta and his glucose is down on the 90's or low 100's after several huge bowls of soup. Try it and let me know!

You have the right idea to have a support system to help you towards success. Just started a discussion about this kind of thing, it has information about on line help. However you do it I am hoping that it turns out the way you want it to. It can be a long road to hoe but you will get there!

I belonged to WW a few years ago and I still have all their books and information... I tried doing it on my own when funds were low, but you really need that support locally. Have you ever looked into TOPS? It's very similar to WW, but it's actually the very first weight loss support group and it is much, much cheaper than WW... You can do a search to see if there is one in your area... http://www.tops.org We just started one in our town because the closest to us was about 20 miles away. All it takes is 4 people to start one! I started with 4 people and now we have 14 on our roster! It's been going great and I love the support we all receive each and every week! Good luck to you!
